In Memory of Pvt. Andy Long - US Army Recruiting Center Blood Drive

The “Pvt. Andy Long Memorial Blood Drive” was held June 27, 2011 at the U.S. Army Recruiting Center on Rodney Parham Road in West Little Rock, AR where Pvt. Long lost his life on June 1, 2009. American Legion Post One, in cooperation with the U.S. Army Recruiting Office and American Red Cross Arkansas Chapter honored the memory of Pvt. Long by hosting this day-long event. There were 27 pints of blood collected in Andy’s memory in what is hoped to become an annual event to honor the fallen hero. And as an added surprise to this very worthwhile event, semi-retired and former undisputed middleweight boxing champion Jermain Taylor dropped by to do his part.

Special thanks are in order to all those who volunteered and participated in the collection drive; including: Krispy Kreme of Little Rock, and American Legion Post One members, Penny Fogle and Stephen Finnegan who pitched in together to donate ice cream to donors.
