You must get tired of hearing this: please contact Ms. May Hooks, 5 01-612-7735 and provide her with some new leads to sell ads for the 2012 Convention program. Let's push ads for the program, it helps pay costs for the convention. Bob always says: "the book should be BIG!"
Mid-Winter Conference was held January 14-15, 2012 at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel. It was a great success. The Department Convention will be held July 13, 14, and 15, 2012 at the Wyndham. Please call the reservations number in plenty of time to get one of the rooms blocked off for the Legion. The Wyndham Riverfront telephone number is 501-371-9000. Room rates have been reduced to $99.00 from $109.00. (Cutoff date is 6/23/2012. No guarantee of the Legion rate after that date).
Child Welfare donations are really down. The need is greater than ever. Veterans' Child Welfare assists families with basic needs such as rent, water, electric, gas and food. This program is designed for veterans with minor children who become incapacitated, hospitalized or deceased. Over the years, the Legion has helped many families facing eviction and/or the threat of utilities being disconnected. Help us to continue this great program - make a donation today. National has a Child Welfare program also. National asks $1.00 per Legionnaire. Department Child Welfare only asks $.50 per Legionnaire.
The national direct membership program has recently released over 600 new name/addresses of DMS members to Post 1000. Information on any of these new members who reside in your area are available by contacting Evelyn Carroll here at headquarters (501) 375-1104.

The Mid-Winter Target Date numbers are out. Good News - we are over by 10! We are at 80.065% of goal. I must note and give credit to our neighbor Louisiana - they are 998 over with 84.158% of their goal. They must be commended and we should be encourage tdo reacho ur nextg oalo f 85%. It is getting tougher now, but we know it can be done. What ever Louisiana is doing, I want some of it.
